"Earth-412" - a speculative worldbuilding project
This project reimagines the trajectory of human history and global cooperation during the 1960s. Through extensive research into the social, political, and cultural climate of the 1960s, including Cold War tensions, civil rights movements, and the space race, I envisioned an alternate Earth that diverges from our own timeline. In this version, Earth-412, the defining differences are A. the setting of early 50s, and B. the collective decision by global powers to abandon the competitive “race to be first” mindset and instead work together towards shared progress and exploration.
At the core of this world is The Infinity Initiative, a fictional global coalition dedicated to fostering peace, prosperity, and scientific advancement. This initiative symbolizes a unified humanity, choosing cooperation over conflict. As a part of this broader movement, I created a focused subsidiary project called The International Foundation of Advanced Space Exploration (IFASE), tasked with managing and advancing humanity’s joint efforts in space exploration.
To ground the project in authenticity, I immersed myself in historical records, media, and propaganda from the 1960s, analyzing the social struggles and aspirations of the era. This research informed the socio-political backdrop of Earth-412 and shaped the ideals and visual style of both The Infinity Initiative and IFASE.
To make the world tangible and immersive, I created fictional magazine covers that could plausibly exist in Earth-412, featuring headlines and imagery celebrating international collaboration and scientific milestones. These covers serve as artifacts that communicate the cultural zeitgeist of the alternate timeline. Additionally, I developed an animated logo sting for The Infinity Initiative, designed for placement prior to the opening of press releases, promotional videos, news segments, and all that which would be sponsored//funded by The Infinity Initiative.
